Ann Ringstad Mpa Cfre’s Expertise Ann Ringstad's career has focused on advocacy strategies and execution, government relations, fundraising, community relations and university leadership, as well as in business and corporate management in the private sector. A recipient of the UAF Alumni Award for University Support, and the North Star Award from the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce for creating a high school leadership program in Alaska, Ann has been a longtime practitioner of integrated advocacy. Ann understands the influence individuals and non-profit organizations can generate through strategic interaction with policy makers, employees, business and industry, and donors and alumni. Relationships matter and the interconnections support the efforts. Nationally, Ann was instrumental in the development and growth of the Higher Education Governmental Relations Conference, a joint venture of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Ann's focus is on advocacy strategies, and raising private funds for non-profit organizations. A great success story includes joint advocacy efforts between two university campuses to provide over 200 million in state funds for two major engineering facilities. This 12-year campaign utilized unique and cost-effective methods of delivery by utilizing social media and developing readily accessible advocacy tools and updates to encourage and support advocates in the quest for funding. Not only did this effort produce state funds to construct both facilities, but also provided visible evidence of collaboration between two rival universities. This collaboration continues on today. In a state that relies so heavily on oil and gas tax revenues to support everything, it has become more apparent state dollars are not the only source of support Alaska organizations need to be successful. Ann has recently focused efforts on securing private funds to support non-profit organizations and programs. Again, relationships matter.
